Give me today the grace for the day

Human longing and pain cry out.
Seemingly no answer comes.
Even when God does not listen, what is the worth of life?
Job says that the human life is like a breath,
it is momentary and passes without any sign of existence.
At times it is unbearable burden.
The complexities of life have left us with no time even to think how we are.
In the fast running world, we are becoming very insignificant, often our very selves are not found.
They belong to a company, a project ... without which we cannot be identified.
We are really helpless under stresses, both from life and from profession.
As Job said, "Lying in bed I wonder, 'When will it be day?'
Risen I think, 'How slowly evening comes!' may be our sighs too.
Even it is true that we have lost days and nights that we could wait for them.

There is no immediate solution to these life struggles;
we need to work, rushing and running, being tired, irritated and at times getting blasted. Perhaps we need to, with great effort, come to a consciousness that we also do live, dream, love and smile.
Give attention to the following commands:
Get up..., come to the middle..., believe..., stretch out..., open..., go in peace..., show yourself..., come out..., come and touch..., what do you have? bring them to me..., you are forgiven..., I don't judge you..., come down..., come to me..., I will give you rest.... These are words Jesus used in his conversations, especially in the occasions of healing and miracles. Actually they do offer a new perspective in relation to the many struggles of life. They are not magical, but they are commands whereby the withering spirit may be raised into the dignity of the children of God.
It is primarily a strength to take the 'givenness' into our own life. "Anything other than 'this' would be fine for me"... such could be our thoughts. It may be our very life, the profession, the life-partner, children, the gadgets we have at present ....If it is too intense, we might even say, "Take away my life Lord!"
Instead, can we say, "Lord, give me today the grace to live, the strength to live."
Our life may be confusing question to the effect that we are being strangulated, yet no death; a chalice too bitter to drink. Can we make a sincere effort to respond to the above words of Christ? That is an important passage we need to go through, identifying the roots of our pains and 'deaths,'- seeing our own unlikeness to Christ. Responding to the words of Christ is a time of healing and rest.  If we can do that, we may gradually be able also to say like Christ,"it is not my will but yours!"
